Bell's Palsy
SYMPTOMS. Bell's palsy may begin with pain behind the ear and within a few
hours there will be weakness on one side of the face, partial facial
paralysis, difficulty in eating or speaking, loss of the ability to smile
and to close the eye on the affected side.
CAUSES. The cause is not known at this time but it may involve an injury to
or pressure on the facial nerve that controls expression. The disease is an
inflammation of this facial nerve.
TREATMENT. Physical therapy and electrical stimulation may be prescribed.
.Patching or medicated eye drops may be prescribed.
.With medical help, complete recover is likely within several months.
